Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 1767

This Hadith teaches the dua for wearing new clothes. Abu Saeed narrated that when the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم wore a new garment, he would name it, such as an Imamah, Qamis, or Rida, then praise Allah and ask for the good of the garment and the good for which it was made. He also sought refuge from its evil and the evil for which it was made. The Hadith connects clothing with gratitude, not pride. It teaches that even a new garment can become a moment of remembrance.
