Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 2144
This hadith about belief in Qadar good and bad gives a direct statement about faith. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said that a servant does not truly believe until he believes in Al-Qadar, its good and its bad. He also explained the inner certainty that comes with this belief: what struck a person was not going to miss him, and what missed him was not going to strike him. This teaching helps the believer face life with a steadier heart. It does not remove effort or responsibility. It teaches acceptance after Allah's decree has occurred and trust that nothing happens outside Allah's knowledge and will.
What we learn from this hadith
- Belief in Qadar is part of faith.
- A believer accepts both good and hard parts of Allah's decree.
- What reaches a person was not meant to miss them.
- What misses a person was not meant to reach them.
