Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 2518

This hadith about leaving doubtful matters teaches a clean way to protect the heart. Al-Hasan bin Ali رضي الله عنه remembered that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: leave what makes you doubt for what does not make you doubt. He then said that truth brings tranquility, while falsehood brings doubt. The main point is not to live in fear of every small question. It is to choose the clearer path when something troubles the conscience. This hadith on doubtful matters connects truth with inner calm and falsehood with unease. A believer should value peace of heart and avoid choices that are built on doubt.

What we learn from this hadith

  • Leave a doubtful matter when a clearer choice is available.
  • Truth brings calm to the heart.
  • Falsehood brings unease and doubt.
  • A believer should not ignore serious discomfort about right and wrong.
