Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 2731

This Hadith mentions two manners: visiting the ill and completing greetings. It says that part of completing a visit to the sick is placing a hand on the forehead or hand and asking how the person is. It also says that shaking hands completes greetings among people. The report itself notes that the chain is not strong, so the explanation should be careful and not make wide claims from it alone. Still, the text teaches a gentle picture of care: when someone is ill, do not visit coldly. Ask about their condition and show concern. This Hadith about visiting the sick reminds Muslims to make care personal and kind.

What we learn from this hadith

  • A sick person should be asked about their condition.
  • Visiting the sick should include visible care and concern.
  • The narration links handshaking with completing greetings.
  • Because the chain is noted as not strong, broad claims should be avoided.
