حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، قَالَ جَالَسْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَكْثَرَ مِنْ مِائَةِ مَرَّةٍ فَكَانَ أَصْحَابُهُ يَتَنَاشَدُونَ الشِّعْرَ وَيَتَذَاكَرُونَ أَشْيَاءَ مِنْ أَمْرِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ وَهُوَ سَاكِتٌ فَرُبَّمَا تَبَسَّمَ مَعَهُمْ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ . وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ زُهَيْرٌ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ أَيْضًا .
Jabir bin Samurah Narrated from:
I Sat With The Prophet (ﷺ) More Than One-Hundred Times. His Companions Used To Recite Poetry And Talk About Things That Occurred During Jahiliyyah, And He Would Remain Silent, And Sometimes He Would Smile Along With Them.

This hadith about the Companions reciting poetry gives a calm picture from the Prophet’s gatherings. Jabir bin Samurah said he sat with the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) more than one hundred times.
