Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 298
This Hadith about dua after Salam comes from Aishah. She narrated that when Allah's Messenger said the Salam, he would not remain seated except long enough to say: "Allahumma Antas-Salam, wa minkas-Salam, tabarakta dhal-jalali wal-ikram." In meaning, the worshipper says: O Allah, You are free of defects, and perfection is from You. Blessed are You, Possessor of Majesty and Honor. The report is focused on a short dhikr after prayer. It does not mention a long sitting here; it says he stayed only long enough to say these words. The main teaching is remembering Allah right after Salah with this beautiful praise.
What we learn from this hadith
- After Salam, the Prophet said a short praise of Allah.
