حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الدَّارِمِيُّ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، عَنِ ابْنِ ثَوْبَانَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ، عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ، أَنَّ عُبَادَةَ بْنَ الصَّامِتِ، حَدَّثَهُمْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " مَا عَلَى الأَرْضِ مُسْلِمٌ يَدْعُو اللَّهَ بِدَعْوَةٍ إِلاَّ آتَاهُ اللَّهُ إِيَّاهَا أَوْ صَرَفَ عَنْهُ مِنَ السُّوءِ مِثْلَهَا مَا لَمْ يَدْعُ بِمَأْثَمٍ أَوْ قَطِيعَةِ رَحِمٍ " . فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ إِذًا نُكْثِرَ . قَالَ " اللَّهُ أَكْثَرُ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ وَابْنُ ثَوْبَانَ هُوَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ ثَابِتِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ الْعَابِدُ الشَّامِيُّ .
'Ubadah bin As-Samit Narrated from:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “There Is Not A Muslim Upon The Earth Who Calls Upon Allah With Any Supplication, Except That Allah Grants It To Him, Or He Turns Away From Him The Like Of It In Evil; As Long As He Does Not Supplicate For Something Sinful, Or The Severing Of The Ties Of Kinship.” So A Man From The People Said: “What If We Should Increase (In It)” He (ﷺ) Said: “(With) Allah Is More.”

Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 3573
This hadith about accepted dua teaches balance and hope. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said that no Muslim on earth calls upon Allah with a supplication except that Allah grants it to him or turns away from him a similar evil. The condition mentioned is that the dua must not be for something sinful or for cutting the ties of kinship. When a man asked about increasing in dua, the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم replied that Allah is more. This keeps the door of supplication open. The hadith does not tell people to ask for harmful things. It teaches believers to ask often, avoid sinful requests, and trust Allah’s generous response.
