Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 3670
This hadith about Abu Bakr as the Prophet’s companion is very direct. The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم says to Abu Bakr, “You are my companion at the Hawd, and my companion in the cave.” The narration brings together two honors in one sentence. One is linked to the Hawd, and the other is linked to the cave. The text does not give a long description of either place, so the explanation should stay close to the words. The key point is that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم personally called Abu Bakr his companion in these two named matters. It is a clear report of closeness, loyalty, and special companionship.
