The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم then said that he believed in that, and so did Abu Bakr and Umar. Abu Salamah added that the two were not among the people that day, and Allah knows best. The report is striking because Abu Bakr and Umar are named even though they were absent. The meaning found in the text is that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم linked them with belief in what he said.
