Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 3717
This Hadith about loving Ali and hating Ali contains two reports in the input. Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri said that the Ansar used to recognize the hypocrites by their hatred for Ali bin Abi Talib. The second report says that Umm Salamah heard the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم say, “No hypocrite loves Ali, and no believer hates him.” The text also includes grading notes: the first report is called gharib and mentions discussion about Abu Harun, while the second is called hasan gharib from that route. The main message in the wording is clear: love for Ali is linked with faith, and hatred of him is linked with hypocrisy. This should be stated carefully, following the text.
What we learn from this hadith
- The reports connect love for Ali with faith.
- The reports warn against hatred toward Ali.
- The text includes narrator and grading notes that should be treated honestly.
- The Ansar’s statement shows how seriously they viewed hatred of Ali.
