Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 381
This Hadith teaches a simple point about sujud etiquette in prayer. Umm Salamah narrated that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم saw a young boy named Aflah blowing while he was prostrating. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم corrected him by saying, O Aflah, put your face in the dirt. The main lesson is that sujud should be done with humility and calmness, not with actions that distract from prayer. The related wording in the Arabic report also mentions that some scholars disliked blowing in salah, while saying that if a person blew, it did not cut off the prayer. So the focus of this Hadith about blowing during sujud is not harshness, but teaching proper attention, stillness, and respect while the face is placed down before Allah.
What we learn from this hadith
- Sujud should be performed with humility and attention.
- Blowing during prayer is mentioned as something disliked in this report.
- The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم corrected small prayer actions in a clear and direct way.
- A person should avoid unnecessary movements or actions while prostrating.
