Muhammad bin Usamah bin Zaid Narrated from:
Narrated Muhammad bin Usamah bin Zaid: From His Father, That He Said: "When The Messenger Of Allah (ﷺ) Became Weak, I Marched And The People Marched Upon Al-Madinah. I Entered Upon The Messenger Of Allah (ﷺ) And He Was Unable To Speak (Because Of Weakness), So He Did Not Say Anything. So The Messenger Of Allah (ﷺ) Began To Place His Hands Upon Me And Then Raise Them Up, So I Knew He Was Supplicating For Me."

Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 3817
This Hadith about the Prophet’s dua for Usamah is tender and simple. Usamah says that when the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم became weak, he came to Madinah with the people and entered upon him. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم was too weak to speak. He did not say anything, but he began placing his hands upon Usamah and raising them. Usamah understood that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم was supplicating for him. The Hadith focuses on love, care, and silent dua. It does not give the exact words of the supplication, so we should not invent them. The main lesson is that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم showed care for Usamah even in weakness, and Usamah recognized that care through his action.
What we learn from this hadith
- The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم showed care for Usamah even when unable to speak.
- Usamah understood the Prophet’s hand movement as supplication for him.
- The narration does not state the exact words of the dua.
- Love and care can be shown through action, not only speech.
