Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 3913
This hadith about Banu ‘Abdul-Ashhal is direct and easy to remember. The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said that the best of the Ansar are Banu ‘Abdul-Ashhal. The narration does not add a long story, so the explanation should remain close to the sentence. The core meaning is that this Ansar house received clear prophetic praise. It is related to the wider topic of the virtues of the Ansar and the honor of their families. A reader should not use the narration to look down on others, especially because other narrations about the Ansar mention good in all their houses. Here, the named lesson is the virtue of Banu ‘Abdul-Ashhal.
What we learn from this hadith
- Banu ‘Abdul-Ashhal are praised in clear words.
- The hadith belongs to the wider virtues of the Ansar.
- Short narrations should be explained without adding unsupported claims.
- Praise of one group should not become unjust contempt for others.
