Umar bin Al-Khattab narrated that : The Messenger Of Allah Said: "Whoever Slept, (Missing) His Section Or Some Of It, Then He Recited It Between The Fajr Prayer And The Zuhr Prayer, It Is Written For Him As If He Had Recited It In The Night."

[1] That is the section of the Qur’ān that he normally recites, or the voluntary night prayer in which he recites that section. See Tuhfat Al-Ahwadhi .Reference : Jami` at-Tirmidhi 581In-book reference : Book 6, Hadith 38English translation : Vol. 2, Book 1, Hadith 581

Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 581

This Hadith about missed night recitation gives comfort to a person who had a regular portion of worship at night but slept through it. The Messenger of Allah said that whoever misses his section, or part of it, then recites it between Fajr prayer and Zuhr prayer, it is written for him as if he recited it at night. The main teaching is not carelessness, but steady devotion. A believer may miss a routine because of sleep, yet still has a clear window to make it up. The Hadith encourages consistency, love for night worship, and not giving up when a worship habit is interrupted.

What we learn from this hadith

  • A missed night portion can be made up between Fajr and Zuhr.
  • A regular worship routine has value, even when sleep interrupts it.
  • The Hadith encourages returning to worship instead of abandoning it.
  • Allah may record the made-up portion like the night recitation mentioned in the text.
