Summary of Sunan Abi Dawud Hadith 1188
This short hadith gives one clear point: the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم recited from the Qur'an in a loud voice during the eclipse prayer. Aishah reports it directly. The narration does not discuss the number of bowings, the length of the prayer, or the sermon afterward. Its focus is the sound of the recitation in Salat al-Kusuf. That makes it useful for people searching for whether eclipse prayer is recited aloud. The wording shows that, in this report, Qur'an was recited loudly in the eclipse prayer. It also fits with the larger pattern in these narrations, where the eclipse is met with prayer and Qur'an, not with fear alone.
What we learn from this hadith
- The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم recited Qur'an in the eclipse prayer.
- This report states that the recitation was loud.
- The hadith is focused on recitation, not other details.
- It supports learning the form of Salat al-Kusuf from the narrated practice.
