Sunan Abi DawudHadith Number 1748
Ibn 'Umar Narrated from:
The Prophet (SWAS) matted his hair with honey.
[1] Mention of this preceded in the chapters on purification. They used to apply a thick substance, like resin or gum from plants — for example natural marsh mallow, or other than it — to their hair, under certain circumstances, like the performance of Hajj and Umrah and other than that. They say that this was to help keep the hair together, to prevent it being consumed with dust and sand, and also to prevent lice and the like.Reference : Sunan Abi Dawud 1748In-book reference : Book 11, Hadith 28English translation : Book 10, Hadith 1744
