A'isha Narrated from:
The Prophet (ﷺ) would not in our quilts. Hammad said: I heard Sa'id b. Abi Sadaqah say: I asked Muhammad (b. Sirin) about it. He did not narrate it to me, but said: I heard it a long time ago and I do not know whom I heard it. I do not know whether I heard it from a trustworthy person or not. Make an inquiry about it.

Summary of Sunan Abi Dawud Hadith 368
This hadith says that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم would not pray in their quilts. It then gives a careful note from Hammad, who heard Sa'id ibn Abi Sadaqah say that he had heard it a long time ago, but did not know from whom, or whether the person was reliable. He then said to ask about it. This makes the core topic more than prayer clothes; it also teaches caution in narration. The hadith about prayer in quilts should not be stretched beyond its wording. The report states an action, and the same text records uncertainty about the route of hearing. Both parts matter for a fair explanation.
What we learn from this hadith
- The report states that the Prophet did not pray in their quilts.
- The narration includes a clear admission of uncertainty from a transmitter.
- The text encourages inquiry when the source of a report is unclear.
- The explanation should include both the prayer-clothing point and the caution note.
