30/5. Chapter:

Should it be said "Ramadan" or "the month of Ramadan"? And whoever thinks that both are permissible

وَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَنْ صَامَ رَمَضَانَ». وَقَالَ: «لاَ تَقَدَّمُوا رَمَضَانَ».And the Prophet ﷺ said, “Whoever observe Saum (fasts) in Ramadan.” And also said, “Do not observe Saum before Ramadan.”

Sahih BukhariHadith Number 1898

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سُهَيْلٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏ "‏ إِذَا جَاءَ رَمَضَانُ فُتِحَتْ أَبْوَابُ الْجَنَّةِ ‏"‏‏.‏

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "When Ramadan begins, the gates of Paradise are opened."
