Sahih BukhariHadith Number 5276
Ibn 'Abbas Narrated from:
The wife of Thabit bin Qais bin Shammas came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! I do not blame Thabit for any defects in his character or his religion, but I am afraid that I (being a Muslim) may become unthankful for Allah's Blessings." On that, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said (to her), 'Will you return his garden to him?" She said, "Yes." So she returned his garden to him and the Prophet (ﷺ) told him to divorce her.

Summary of Sahih Bukhari Hadith 5276
This Hadith presents the khula case with another phrase from Thabit's wife. She came to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and said that she did not find fault with Thabit in religion or character, but she feared falling into ingratitude. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم asked whether she would return his garden, and she said yes. She returned it, and the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم told Thabit to separate from her. The explanation should stay close to the text. It is not a story of blaming the husband. It is a report of a wife who feared a harmful state for herself, returned the garden, and received a guided path to separation.
What we learn from this hadith
- The wife did not accuse Thabit in religion or character.
- She feared becoming unthankful for Allah's blessings if she stayed.
- The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم asked her to return the garden.
- After she returned it, Thabit was told to separate from her.
