Summary of Sahih Bukhari Hadith 5296

This fitna from the East hadith is a very short warning narrated by Ibn Umar. He says that he heard the Prophet say that afflictions will emerge from here, and the Prophet pointed toward the East. The narration does not give a list of events, names, or times in this wording. It simply records the statement and the direction indicated by the Prophet. Because the wording is brief, it should be explained with the same care. Readers searching for afflictions from the East hadith often want to know what the report actually says. Here, the safe answer is that the Prophet warned of fitna and pointed toward the East, while this narration itself does not expand beyond that.

What we learn from this hadith

  • The Prophet warned about afflictions in this narration.
  • He pointed toward the East while making the statement.
  • The report does not name specific people or events here.
  • Brief warnings should be explained without adding claims not in the text.
