Ibn 'Abbas Narrated from:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to Ibn Saiyad "I have hidden something for you in my mind; What is it?" He said, "Ad-Dukh." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Ikhsa."
[2] Ibn Ṣā'id who was said to be a soothsayer, guessed part of the word which the Prophet ﷺ had in mind. He said, ' Ad-Dukh ' while it was ' Ad-Dukhān ' i.e., smoke.Reference : Sahih al-Bukhari 6172In-book reference : Book 78, Hadith 198USC-MSA web (English) reference : Vol. 8, Book 73, Hadith 193
Summary of Sahih Bukhari Hadith 6172
This narration is searched by people looking for Ibn Saiyad hadith, Ad-Dukh hadith, and the meaning of Ikhsa in hadith. The text is very brief. Allah’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) told Ibn Saiyad that he had hidden something in his mind and asked him what it was. Ibn Saiyad answered, “Ad-Dukh.” The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) replied, “Ikhsa.” The hadith presents a moment where the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) tested Ibn Saiyad and responded firmly. The text does not give a long explanation here, so the safest reading is to stay with what it says: a hidden matter was asked about, Ibn Saiyad gave a partial answer, and the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) rejected him with a strong word. It teaches care when dealing with strange claims.
