A'isha Narrated from:
Narrated `Aisha: that she said to `Urwa, "O, the son of my sister! We used to see three crescents in two months, and no fire used to be made in the houses of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) (i.e. nothing used to be cooked)." `Urwa said, "What used to sustain you?" `Aisha said, "The two black things i.e. dates and water, except that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) had neighbors from the Ansar who had some milch she-camels, and they used to give the Prophet (ﷺ) some milk from their house, and he used to make us drink it."

Summary of Sahih Bukhari Hadith 6459
This Hadith about three crescents and no fire gives a vivid account from Aisha She told Urwa that they would see three crescents in two months, yet no fire would be lit in the houses of Allah’s Messenger When Urwa asked what sustained them, she replied: the two black things, meaning dates and water. She also mentioned that some Ansari neighbors had milch she-camels and would give milk to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, which he then gave them to drink. This Hadith is a strong example of simple living in Islam. It also shows neighborly help through the milk that came from the Ansar.
What we learn from this hadith
- The Prophet’s homes sometimes passed long periods without cooking.
- Dates and water were a basic source of food.
- Milk from Ansari neighbors helped the Prophet’s household.
- The Hadith shows both simplicity and neighborly support.
