حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ، قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَنْقُلُ مَعَنَا التُّرَابَ يَوْمَ الأَحْزَابِ، وَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ وَارَى التُّرَابُ بَيَاضَ بَطْنِهِ يَقُولُ " لَوْلاَ أَنْتَ مَا اهْتَدَيْنَا نَحْنُ، وَلاَ تَصَدَّقْنَا وَلاَ صَلَّيْنَا، فَأَنْزِلَنْ سَكِينَةً عَلَيْنَا، إِنَّ الأُلَى وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ الْمَلاَ قَدْ بَغَوْا عَلَيْنَا، إِذَا أَرَادُوا فِتْنَةً أَبَيْنَا " أَبَيْنَا يَرْفَعُ بِهَا صَوْتَهُ.
Al-Bara' bin 'Azib Narrated from:
The Prophet (ﷺ) was carrying earth with us on the day of the battle of Al-Ahzab (confederates) and I saw that the dust was covering the whiteness of his `Abdomen, and he (the Prophet (ﷺ) ) was saying, "(O Allah) ! Without You, we would not have been guided, nor would we have given in charity, nor would we have prayed. So (O Allah!) please send tranquility (Sakina) upon us as they, (the chiefs of the enemy tribes) have rebelled against us. And if they intend affliction (i.e. want to frighten us and fight against us) then we would not (flee but withstand them). And the Prophet (ﷺ) used to raise his voice with it. Summary of Sahih Bukhari Hadith 7236
This hadith is often searched as Battle of Al-Ahzab dua hadith or Prophet carrying earth at the trench. Al-Bara' bin Azib says that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم was carrying earth with the companions on the day of Al-Ahzab. Dust covered the whiteness of his abdomen, and he was saying words of prayer: without Allah, they would not have been guided, given charity, or prayed. He asked Allah to send Sakina, meaning tranquility, upon them. The hadith also mentions that the opposing chiefs had rebelled against them, and if they wanted affliction, the Muslims would not flee. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم raised his voice with these words. The focus is work, dua, trust in Allah, and firmness under pressure.
