Al-Lu'lu Wal-Marjan 1673 — The Book of Kindness, Good Relations and Good Manners

One cursed or abused etc. by Allāh's Messenger ﷺ while he in fact deserved it not, then it will be a source of expiation of his sins and a reward and mercy for him.

Al-Lu'lu Wal-MarjanHadith Number 1673

Abu Hurairah Narrated from:

Narrated Abû Huraira رضى الله عنه that he heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "O Allāh! If I should ever abuse a believer, please let that be a means of bringing him near to You on the Day of Resurrection." [1] ( Sahih Al-Bukhârî, Hadîth No. 372, Vol. 8)

[1] This does not mean that the Prophet ﷺ might abuse somebody without reason, but it means that he might abuse somebody because of his apparent behaviour, while his intention was honest.
