Mishkat al-MasabihHadith Number 5019
وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «الْمَرْءُ عَلَى دِينِ خَلِيلِهِ فَلْيَنْظُرْ أَحَدُكُمْ مَنْ يُخَالِلْ» . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالتِّرْمِذِيُّ وَأَبُو دَاوُدَ وَالْبَيْهَقِيُّ فِي «شُعَبِ الْإِيمَانِ» وَقَالَ التِّرْمِذِيُّ: هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ. وَقَالَ النَّوَوِيُّ: إِسْنَادُهُ صَحِيحٌ
AbuHurayrah Narrated from:
Allah's Messenger ﷺ said, "A man (generally) follows the religion (habits and customs) of his friend. Hence each one of you must ensure who he takes for his friend." [1]
