حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَهْدِيٍّ - حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، يَقُولُ عَادَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَأَنَا مَرِيضٌ وَمَعَهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ مَاشِيَيْنِ فَوَجَدَنِي قَدْ أُغْمِيَ عَلَىَّ فَتَوَضَّأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ثُمَّ صَبَّ عَلَىَّ مِنْ وَضُوئِهِ فَأَفَقْتُ فَإِذَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَيْفَ أَصْنَعُ فِي مَالِي فَلَمْ يَرُدَّ عَلَىَّ شَيْئًا حَتَّى نَزَلَتْ آيَةُ الْمِيرَاثِ .
Jabir bin `Abdullah Narrated from:
While I had been ill Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) visited me and Abu akr (Allah be pleased with him) was with him, and they both came walking on foot. He (the Holy Prophet) found me unconscious. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) performed ablution and then sprinkled over me the water of his ablution. I felt relieved regained my consciousness) and found Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) there. I said: Allah's Messenger, what should I do with my property? He gave me no reply until the verse (iv. 177) relating to the law of inheritance was revealed.

Summary of Sahih Muslim Hadith 1616c
This hadith about inheritance tells us that Jabir ibn Abdullah was ill when the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and Abu Bakr came to visit him on foot. Jabir was unconscious, so the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم performed ablution and sprinkled water from it over him. Jabir then regained consciousness and saw the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم with him. His first question was about what to do with his property. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم did not answer immediately. The narration says that no reply was given until the verse about inheritance was revealed. This gives the hadith a clear focus: when wealth and heirs are involved, the answer is not based on emotion or hurry. The guidance comes from revelation, especially in matters of inheritance law.
