Summary of Sahih Muslim Hadith 1814b
This hadith is another brief report about the Prophet’s صلى الله عليه وسلم campaigns. Buraida says that he joined the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم in sixteen military campaigns. The text does not list the names of those campaigns, and it does not state which of them included fighting. It simply gives Buraida’s personal count of the campaigns he attended. For readers searching Buraida sixteen campaigns hadith, the main point is companionship and direct participation. Compared with reports that count the Prophet’s total campaigns, this narration focuses on what Buraida himself joined. That difference is important, because a personal count and a total count are not the same kind of statement.
What we learn from this hadith
- Buraida reports his own attendance in sixteen campaigns.
- The narration does not list the names of those campaigns.
- A Companion’s personal count should be read as his own participation.
- Brief reports should not be made to say more than their wording gives.
