وَحَدَّثَنَاهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبَانٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ، عَنْ طَلْحَةَ، بْنِ يَحْيَى بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا الْمُنْذِرِ آنْتَ سَمِعْتَ هَذَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ نَعَمْ فَلاَ تَكُنْ يَا ابْنَ الْخَطَّابِ عَذَابًا عَلَى أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم . وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ مِنْ قَوْلِ عُمَرَ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ . وَمَا بَعْدَهُ .
Talha b. Yahya Narrated from:
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Talha b. Yahya with the same chain of transmitters but with this variation of wording: He (Hadrat 'Umar) said: Abu Mundhir (the Kunya of Ubayy b. Ka'b), did you hear this from Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)? Thereupon he said: Yes. and he further said: Ibn Khattab, do not be a torment for the Companions of Allah's Messenger (may peace he upon him). No mention has, however, been made of the words of 'Umar:" Hallowed be Allah" and what follows subsequently.

This narration gives a variation of the earlier report about seeking permission three times. In this wording, Umar asks Ubayy b. Ka'b, known here by his kunya Abu Mundhir, whether he heard the rule from Allah's Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم). Ubayy answers yes. He then tells Umar not to be a torment for the Companions of Allah's Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم). The narration does not mention Umar’s later words found in the other version. The main search topic is still the permission before entering hadith, but this version also highlights how the Companions reminded one another with direct words. It teaches that verifying a Hadith should be done with care, and that those who carry the words of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) should not be treated harshly without need.
