Summary of Sahih Muslim Hadith 2191a

This Hadith is a key text for the search term healing dua hadith. A'isha reports that when someone among them became ill, Allah's Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم would rub the person with his right hand and say a supplication asking the Lord of the people to remove the harm and grant healing. The words clearly place cure in Allah’s hand: there is no healing except His healing. The narration then moves to the Prophet’s صلى الله عليه وسلم own final illness. A'isha tried to use his hand as he used to do, but he withdrew it and prayed, asking Allah for pardon and to join the highest companionship. The Hadith teaches care for the sick, trust in Allah as the Healer, and a moving picture of the Prophet’s صلى الله عليه وسلم final moments.
