Summary of Sahih Muslim Hadith 2350a
This hadith records a question about the Prophet’s stay in Mecca. Amr asked Urwa how long Allah's Apostle صلى الله عليه وسلم stayed there. Urwa answered: ten years. Amr then mentioned that Ibn Abbas said thirteen years. The report is useful because it shows a direct discussion about the timeline, not a ruling or a story of an event. It also shows that two reported counts are mentioned in the text itself. A careful explanation should not force one answer from this narration alone. It should present what the hadith says: Urwa gave ten years, and Amr pointed to Ibn Abbas’s report of thirteen years.
What we learn from this hadith
- The hadith records a direct question about the Prophet’s stay in Mecca.
- Urwa’s answer is ten years, while Ibn Abbas’s report of thirteen is mentioned.
- The text itself shows a difference in reported counts.
