Summary of Sahih Muslim Hadith 2402b
This entry is a transmission report for the Hadith about Uthman's modesty. It says the hadith has been transmitted on the authority of Uthman and Aisha with the same wording. Because it does not introduce a new scene, the meaning remains connected to the previous narration: Abu Bakr and Umar were admitted while the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم was resting, but when Uthman sought permission, the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم sat up and told Aisha to wrap herself well. The reason given was that Uthman was very modest and might not state his need in that situation. For readers studying Sahih Muslim 2402b, the focus is the preservation of that same report.
What we learn from this hadith
- The report confirms the same wording through another transmission.
- It supports the narration about Uthman's modesty without adding a new event.
- Hadith collections often preserve multiple routes for the same wording.
- The core lesson remains care for a modest person's comfort and privacy.
