Summary of Sahih Muslim Hadith 2706b
This narration from Anas reports the same supplication from Allah’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم, but it notes a wording difference. In one route, the phrase "from the trial of life and death" is not found. This is important because the Hadith itself points out the variation rather than hiding it. For readers searching for the dua against laziness, weakness, cowardice, old age, and miserliness, this narration is tied to that well-known wording. At the same time, the exact text here teaches us to be careful when quoting. Some reports include the trial of life and death, while this route says those words are not present in that version.
What we learn from this hadith
- Hadith narrations may note when a phrase is absent in one route.
- The core supplication remains linked to seeking refuge from personal weaknesses.
- Care is needed when quoting the exact wording of a dua.
- The report shows attention to wording differences.
