Abu Huraira reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) used to command us that as we go to our bedo, we should utter the words (as mention- ed above) and he also said (these words): " From the evil of every animal, Thou hast hold upon its forelock (Thou bast full control over it)."

Summary of Sahih Muslim Hadith 2713b
This Hadith gives another report of the bedtime words taught by Allah's Messenger. It keeps the same main supplication as the previous narration, with a wording that asks refuge from the evil of every animal or creature whose forelock Allah holds. The meaning within the text is that Allah has full control over what may harm a person. This makes the dua a strong night supplication for protection, while still keeping the wording tied to the Hadith itself. A person going to bed is not told to rely on fear. He is told to remember Allah, speak His praise, and seek His protection. The Hadith is especially relevant for searches about bedtime dua for protection from evil.
What we learn from this hadith
- Seek protection from Allah before sleeping.
- Remember that every creature is under Allah's control.
- Use the words taught in the narration rather than making claims beyond it.
- Turn fear at night into a prayer of refuge.
