حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، وَابْنُ، بَشَّارٍ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " لاَ يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَتَّى أَكُونَ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ وَلَدِهِ وَوَالِدِهِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ " .

The Messenger of Allah said: None of you is a believer until I am dearer to him than his child, his father, and the whole of mankind.

This Hadith is searched by many as love Prophet more than father and child hadith. The Prophet said that none of you is a believer until he is dearer to him than his child, his father, and all mankind. The wording names some of the strongest human bonds. A child is deeply loved. A father is deeply respected and loved. Yet this Hadith teaches that the Messenger of Allah must be more beloved than them all. The text is short, but its message is strong. It calls the believer to check the heart, not only outward worship. Love for the Prophet is presented as part of the believer’s faith.
