Question 1

What is the Ishraq time in Al Mafraq today?

Accepted Answer

Today's Ishraq time in Al Mafraq, Jordan starts at 07:05 AM (approximately 15-20 minutes after sunrise at 06:51 AM) and ends at 09:34 AM before Dhuhr. The best time to pray Ishraq is right at 07:05 AM when the sun has fully risen above the horizon.

Question 2

How long after sunrise can I pray Ishraq in Al Mafraq?

Accepted Answer

In Al Mafraq, you should wait approximately 15-20 minutes after sunrise (06:51 AM) before praying Ishraq. This means Ishraq begins at 07:05 AM. Prayer is prohibited during the exact time of sunrise, so waiting ensures the sun has risen to the height of a spear (about one meter above the horizon).

Question 3

How many rakats should I pray for Ishraq?

Accepted Answer

Ishraq prayer consists of a minimum of 2 rakats and can be extended to 4 rakats. The Prophet (ﷺ) encouraged praying 2 rakats after sunrise, saying that whoever prays Fajr in congregation, remains seated remembering Allah until sunrise, and then prays 2 rakats earns the reward of a complete Hajj and Umrah (Tirmidhi). In Al Mafraq, you have from 07:05 AM to 09:34 AM to perform this prayer.

Question 4

What is the difference between Ishraq and Duha prayer?

Accepted Answer

Ishraq is prayed immediately after sunrise (at 07:05 AM in Al Mafraq), while Duha (Chasht) is prayed later in the mid-morning. Many scholars consider Ishraq to be the earliest form of Duha prayer. The key distinction is that Ishraq specifically requires sitting after Fajr until sunrise and then praying, while Duha can be prayed anytime from 07:05 AM until approximately 20 minutes before Dhuhr (12:20 PM).

Question 5

What is the reward of praying Ishraq?

Accepted Answer

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Whoever prays Fajr in congregation, then sits remembering Allah until the sun rises, then prays two rakats, he will have a reward like that of Hajj and Umrah — complete, complete, complete." (Tirmidhi 586). In Al Mafraq, this means praying Fajr at 05:21 AM, doing Dhikr until sunrise at 06:51 AM, and then praying Ishraq at 07:05 AM.

Question 6

Can I pray Ishraq at home?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Ishraq can be prayed at home or at the mosque. If you prayed Fajr in congregation at the mosque, you may remain there doing Dhikr until Ishraq time at 07:05 AM in Al Mafraq. If you prayed Fajr at home, you can still pray Ishraq — you will earn the reward of a Nafl prayer, though the special Hajj-like reward mentioned in the hadith is specifically for those who remain seated after Fajr congregation.

Question 7

What should I recite during Ishraq prayer?

Accepted Answer

Ishraq is a Nafl prayer, so there is no specific Surah requirement. You may recite any Surahs you know after Surah Fatiha. Common choices include Surah Ash-Shams (91), Surah Ad-Duha (93), or Surah Al-Kafirun (109) and Surah Al-Ikhlas (112). In Al Mafraq, use the time between 07:05 AM and 09:34 AM to pray with focus and contemplation.
