Summary of Sunan an-Nasai Hadith 2801
This Hadith about riding a Badanah shows the ease and mercy found in the Prophet’s guidance. Anas narrated that the Prophet saw a man driving a Badanah while the man was worn out from walking. The Prophet told him, "Ride it." The man repeated that it was a Badanah, meaning he was hesitant because of its special status. The Prophet still told him to ride it, even if it was a Badanah. The main lesson is clear: worship should not become needless hardship when a permitted relief is available. The Hadith does not tell us to treat sacred duties lightly. Rather, it shows that when a person is genuinely exhausted, the Prophet’s instruction gave ease without cancelling the act of devotion.
What we learn from this hadith
- A person should not force avoidable hardship when the Prophet gives a way of ease.
- The status of a Badanah did not stop the exhausted man from being told to ride it.
- The Prophet noticed the man’s difficulty and gave direct practical guidance.
- Religious devotion should be done with care, not needless self-harm.
