Summary of Sunan an-Nasai Hadith 3290
This hadith about marriage with a woman and her aunt states that the Messenger of Allah forbade being married to a woman and her paternal aunt or maternal aunt at the same time. The narration is brief, but the message is easy to understand. It deals with the marriage combination itself. A woman is not to be taken into marriage while her aunt is already in that same marriage arrangement, and the reverse meaning is also supported by the wording of the related narrations in this group. Its core teaching is that Islam sets limits in marriage to protect certain close family ties.
What we learn from this hadith
- The Prophet forbade joining a woman with her paternal aunt in marriage.
- The Prophet also forbade joining a woman with her maternal aunt.
- The text is about being married to them at the same time.
- Marriage decisions should be checked against prophetic guidance.
