Summary of Sunan an-Nasai Hadith 3842
This hadith focuses on a vow made at a moment of anger. The Messenger of Allah says there is no vow in anger and that its expiation is the expiation for an oath. The text warns against allowing a heated moment to control later actions. A vow spoken while angry may contain words that a person would not calmly choose. This narration does not expand into other cases; it deals specifically with anger and expiation. For readers searching for a hadith about vows made in anger, angry promises in Islam, or kaffarah for an angry vow, the central message is that such a vow is not to be treated like a calm act of devotion, and the stated remedy is oath expiation.
What we learn from this hadith
- Anger can lead a person to make an unwise vow.
- The report does not treat a vow made in anger as binding.
- Its expiation is described as the expiation for an oath.
- Serious commitments should not be driven by a heated moment.
