Summary of Sunan an-Nasai Hadith 4258
This hadith gives a practical answer about food contamination. A mouse fell into cooking fat and died. When the Prophet was asked what to do, he instructed the people to throw away the mouse and whatever fat was around it, then eat the rest. The narration does not say that the whole amount had to be discarded. It identifies the affected area around the mouse for removal and allows the remaining fat to be eaten. The core search phrase is mouse in cooking fat hadith. The report should not be stretched to cover every kind of liquid or every contamination case, because those details are not stated here. Its teaching is limited to the situation described.
What we learn from this hadith
- The dead mouse had to be removed from the cooking fat.
- The fat immediately around it was also to be discarded.
- The remaining cooking fat could be eaten according to the report.
