`Adi bin Hatim Narrated from:
I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I release my dog and he catches the game, but I cannot find anything with which to slaughter it, so I slaughter it with a sharp-edged stone or a stick.' He said: 'Shed the blood with whatever you want, and mention the name of Allah.""

Summary of Sunan an-Nasai Hadith 4304
This Hadith explains what to do when a trained hunting dog catches game and the hunter cannot find the usual tool for slaughter. 'Adiyy bin Hatim mentioned using a sharp-edged stone or a stick. The Prophet replied with two direct instructions: shed the blood with whatever suitable means is available and mention the name of Allah. The core topic is lawful slaughter in an urgent hunting situation. The text shows that the named object is not the only point; the action of shedding blood and remembering Allah are central in the answer. The Hadith should not be stretched beyond its wording. It deals with caught game, a lack of normal slaughter equipment, and the use of an available means that can perform the required act.
What we learn from this hadith
- Use an available means that can shed the animal's blood.
- Mention the name of Allah when slaughtering the game.
- A sharp-edged stone may be used in the situation described.
- The ruling answers a case where the usual slaughter tool is unavailable.
