Summary of Sunan an-Nasai Hadith 4512

This hadith about Mulamash and Munabadha repeats a clear warning from Abu Saeed Al-Khudri. He said that the Messenger of Allah forbade two kinds of transactions: Mulamash and Munabadha. Since the wording only names the two transactions, the explanation should stay general and not add details not present in this report. The main lesson is that Islamic business ethics do not allow every form of buying and selling. Some sale methods were stopped by the Prophet. A Muslim trader should be careful before using a sale method just because people use it. A valid sale should be in line with prophetic guidance and should avoid the forbidden forms named here.

What we learn from this hadith

  • Mulamash is forbidden in this report.
  • Munabadha is forbidden in this report.
  • Muslims should not accept every sale method as valid by habit alone.
  • Trade should remain within the limits taught by the Prophet.
