Summary of Sunan an-Nasai Hadith 4950
This report from Abdullah bin Abbas, through Ata bin Abi Rabah, says that the price of the shield in those days was ten dirhams. The main search phrase is “ten dirhams shield value hadith.” The narration is not giving a long legal case. It simply explains the value of the shield mentioned in related theft threshold reports. That makes the wording useful but limited. It does not mention a specific thief, a specific stolen item, or any legal process. The safe explanation is to say that Ibn Abbas used to identify that price as ten dirhams. According to Islamic scholars, values in legal reports need careful reading with the full body of evidence.
What we learn from this hadith
- The report gives a value: ten dirhams.
- It is about the price of the shield, not a full court case.
- The wording is short and should be kept limited.
- It helps explain what the shield price meant in those days.
