Sunan an-Nasai 4968 — Produce Theft and Narrator Note

Summary of Sunan an-Nasai Hadith 4968

This version of the hadith says that the hand is not to be cut off for produce or the spadix of palm trees, and it also records An-Nasa'i's comment that this route contains a mistake and that he does not know Abu Maimun. The main message of the hadith text is still about a named theft penalty limit, but this narration also teaches caution in reporting. A reader searching for Sunan an-Nasa'i stealing produce should notice both parts: the prophetic wording and the compiler's note. The safe explanation is to keep the ruling statement tied to the wording and to respect the hadith criticism mentioned in the text.
