Summary of Sunan an-Nasai Hadith 5114
This hadith about the Prophet’s gray hairs gives a small but vivid detail. Jabir bin Samurah was asked about the gray hairs of the Prophet. He said that when the Prophet put oil on his head, the gray hairs could not be seen, but when he did not put oil on his head, they could be seen. The narration is not giving a legal rule about dyeing or hair color. It is describing what was observed about the Prophet’s hair and the effect of oil on its appearance. For readers searching for “Prophet gray hair hadith,” this text shows how simple grooming could change what people noticed without adding anything beyond the report.
What we learn from this hadith
- The narration describes the Prophet’s gray hairs through an eyewitness report.
- Oil on the head made the gray hairs not visible.
- Without oil, the gray hairs could be seen.
- The report should be read as a description, not expanded into claims not stated.
