It was narrated from Abu Al-Ahwas that his father said: "I was sitting with the Messenger of Allah [SAW] and he saw that I was dressed in scruffy clothes. He said: 'Do you have any wealth?' I said: 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah, all kinds of wealth.' He said: 'If Allah gives you wealth then let its effect be seen on you.'"

Summary of Sunan an-Nasai Hadith 5223
This Hadith about wealth and clothing shows a balanced lesson. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم saw a man in scruffy clothes and asked whether he had wealth. When the man said yes, the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم told him that if Allah gives wealth, its effect should be seen on him. The Hadith does not praise showing off, and it does not ask a person to pretend to be rich. It simply teaches that a blessing from Allah can be reflected in a decent outward state. For searches like if Allah gives you wealth let its effect be seen hadith, the core message is gratitude through neat and suitable appearance.
What we learn from this hadith
- Wealth is described as something Allah gives, so gratitude should be remembered.
- A person with means should not needlessly appear neglected.
- The Hadith points to visible blessing, not pride or showing off.
