Prophetic Hadiths on Warning the Family

These authentic prophetic hadiths explain the critical responsibility of warning the family and close relatives about the afterlife. When the Quranic verse commanding the Prophet to warn his nearest kinsmen was revealed, he took immediate action. He called upon the various lineages of the Quraish tribe, including Banu Fihr, Banu Adi, Banu Abd Manaf, and his own close family members. According to Islamic scholars, his public call emphasized individual accountability before Allah. He explicitly told his aunt Safiya and his beloved daughter Fatimah that despite their close worldly ties, they must save themselves from the Fire through their own deeds, as he could not save them from Allah's punishment, though he promised to always maintain and uphold their earthly ties of kinship.

Abu Hurairah Narrated from:

When Allah revealed the Verse: "Warn your nearest kinsmen," Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) got up and said, "O people of Quraish (or said similar words)! Buy (i.e. save) yourselves (from the Hellfire) as I cannot save you from Allah's Punishment; O Bani `Abd Manaf! I cannot save you from Allah's Punishment, O Safiya, the Aunt of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! I cannot save you from Allah's Punishment; O Fatima bint Muhammad! Ask me anything from my wealth, but I cannot save you from Allah's Punishment."
