Authentic Hadiths on the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad and Safeguarding Truth

The Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) provides comprehensive guidance for practical life and establishes strict parameters for preserving religious truth. Authentic traditions highlight how the Prophet (ﷺ) adapted to administrative needs by wearing a silver ring engraved with 'Muhammad Allah's Messenger' to seal formal letters, a practice visibly remembered by his companions. Beyond daily habits, these narrations emphasize the critical duty of transmitting his words with absolute honesty. The Prophet (ﷺ) explicitly warned that anyone who intentionally fabricates a lie against him or attributes statements to him that he did not make will surely occupy a seat in the Hellfire. According to Islamic scholars, this severe caution made close companions deeply careful and hesitant to narrate excessive statements, ensuring the purity of prophetic teachings for generations.

Abu Hurairah Narrated from:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Name yourselves with my name (use my name) but do not name yourselves with my Kunya name (i.e. Abul Qasim). And whoever sees me in a dream then surely he has seen me for Satan cannot impersonate me. And whoever tells a lie against me (intentionally), then (surely) let him occupy his seat in Hell-fire."
