Abu Al-Aswad Ad-Dill Narrated from:
I Arrived In Al-Madinah And While I Was Sitting With Umar Bin Al-Khattab They Passed By With A Funeral, Over (A Person) Whom They Were Praising With Good. Umar Said: 'Granted.' I Said To Umar: 'What Is Granted?' He Said: 'I Said As The Messenger Of Allah Said: There Is No Muslim About Whom Three Bear Witness, Except That He Is Granted Paradise." He Said: "And Two (As Well)." He Said: 'We Did Not Ask The Messenger Of Allah About One.'"

Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 1059
This hadith about three witnesses for a Muslim explains the meaning of 'Granted' in a funeral setting. Abu Al-Aswad Ad-Dili said he was sitting with Umar when a funeral passed and people praised the deceased with good words. Umar said, 'Granted.' When asked what it meant, Umar said he was saying what the Messenger of Allah said: no Muslim has three people bear witness for him except that Paradise is granted for him. The companions asked about two, and the Prophet said, 'And two.' They did not ask him about one. The hadith is about good testimony from Muslims for the deceased. It should not be used for careless praise, because the wording is about bearing witness.
What we learn from this hadith
- Good testimony from three Muslims is mentioned in connection with Paradise.
- The Prophet also affirmed the same for two witnesses.
- The companions did not ask about one witness.
- The hadith shows the weight of truthful public testimony about the deceased.
