Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 1206
This riba hadith gives a strong warning about interest-based dealings. Ibn Mas'ud narrated that the Messenger of Allah cursed the one who consumes riba, the one who charges it, the two who witness it, and the one who records it. The wording shows that riba is not only about the person who receives it. The narration also names those who help complete the transaction, such as witnesses and the writer. This makes the message wider than personal profit. It teaches that a Muslim should be careful not to take part in a riba arrangement in any role mentioned in the hadith.
What we learn from this hadith
- The hadith warns against consuming riba.
- The one who charges riba is also included in the warning.
- Witnessing and recording riba are mentioned in the same warning.
