Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 1744

This Prophet ring on right hand hadith gives a chain of people reporting what they saw. Hammad bin Salamah saw Ibn Abi Rafi wearing a ring on his right hand and asked about it. Ibn Abi Rafi said he saw Abdullah bin Ja'far wearing a ring on his right hand, and Abdullah bin Ja'far said that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم wore a ring on his right hand. The report is especially clear because it moves from personal observation to a direct statement about the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم. It also includes the note that Muhammad bin Isma'il considered this the most correct report on this topic. The explanation should remain tied to the text: the focus is the right-hand placement of the ring.
